Maple Gingerbread Cookies

  • Maple syrup – 125ml

  • Butter – 250g

  • Brown sugar – 250g

  • Egg – 1

  • Honey – 125ml

  • Flour – 600g

  • Baking soda – 1.5 tsp

  • Salt – 1 pinch

  • Ground ginger – 2 tsp

  • Ground cinnamon – 1 tsp

  • Ground clove – 1 tsp

  • Christmas themed cookie cutters


Here are the different steps to follow:

Step 1: Preparation

In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.

In another container, beat together softened butter, brown sugar and egg.

Add the maple syrup, honey and vanilla then gradually add the flour mixture to this bowl, mixing at medium speed until everything is smooth.

Reserve in the fridge for 2 hours.

Step 2: Formatting

Preheat the oven to 190°C and line two cookie sheets with baking paper.

Dust the work surface and the rolling pin with flour then roll out the biscuit dough until it is 6mm thick.

Using the cookie cutters of your choice, cut out biscuits then place them on the baking sheets (space them about 4cm).

Step 3: Cooking

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges begin to brown.
